Product Description Used by over one million students, America: A Narrative History is one of the most successful American history textbooks ever published. Maintaining the features that have always distinguished this classic text—lively and accessible narrative style, a keen balance of political with social and cultural history, and exceptional value—the Seventh Edition introduces a completely redesigned, full-color layout complemented by eye-catching maps and enhanced pedagogy. The Seventh Edition also introduces the new theme of environmental history. Carefully integrated throughout, this theme adds illuminating perspectives on how Americans have shaped—and been shaped by—the natural world.

Excellent Reading for everyone, (American or not) March 3, 2009 P. Nieves (New York) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This was excellent reading. Everyone whether an American or not should read this book to better understand a particular time in the history of the United States of America. It is easy to read and understandable.
Clear and detailed history! December 24, 2009 T. G. Gourlay (NY, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
America, A Narrative History - great pictures and detail - easy to read - well worth adding to your collection. So good that I went on to buy the volume 2, 7th edition (brief version)!!!!
brief edition June 14, 2010 D. Gift 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
this book is a brief edition and will work. When purchasing a history book watch carefully for brief edition even on matching isbn numbers.
Good concise and unbiased piece of work August 22, 2010 J. K. Langlois (Tokyo Japan) This book is great for APUSH. It is concise, succinct and covers all sides of the political and economic spectrum with an equal and fair balance. Usually tomes as this (both volumes come to over 1200 pages) in trying to stay unbiased, tend to be dry and a sure cure for severe insomnia. This book though holds ones attention in it's novel type format. I had two 13 year old students last year that were not quite the sharpest tools in the box, BUT they could not put it down when I assn'd them a chapter of it for make up work. Again, I highly recommend this book to HS History teachers to use in lieu of those ghastly textbooks that are more geared to weightlifting class and a good night's sleep rather than to true enjoyment of history as an entertaining pastime as this Narrative does.
